Lawrence Dade

April 13, 1930 — October 14, 2021

Lawrence L. (Larry) Dade peacefully went to be with the Lord and his son Michael on October 14, 2021 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Larry was born on April 13, 1930, in Meeker, Colorado; the son of William Lawrence Dade and Georgia Lamar Powell. He spent his childhood on the family ranch in Meeker, Colorado where he hunted, fished and worked horses and cattle and in Provo, Utah where he went to school.

Larry attended Brigham Young University and during his second year, enlisted in the military. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War as a Master Sergeant and acquired his pilot's license. While in the service, he met Billie Elizabeth (Beth) Aiken and married her on November 11, 1950.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Airforce, Larry went to work for Decota Coffee in Midland, Texas. He then went to work for Dowell, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical. The family was transferred from Midland to Artesia, New Mexico, where he remained for the rest of his life. Larry worked for Dowell for 30 years and retired as a District Engineer. After being retired for two weeks, he went to work for Yates Petroleum as a completion Engineer. After 18 years with Yates, he again retired and tried not to work but unfortunately was unable to resist and a short time later went to work for I/W as a salesman and Engineer. He retired for the last time at the age of 84.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife and going to the casino in Ruidoso. Larry was an avid fisherman, hunter and reloader. He had 20 acres of land south of town where he had a garden and spent time cultivating his pecan trees. Larry spent time working on cars, at woodworking, leather projects and reloading. During his life, he was involved with Boy Scouts, the Moose Lodge and multiple local area organizations and was a long-time member of West Main Baptist Church.

Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, his youngest son Michael Dade, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife Beth Dade, a daughter Sandra McMahan and husband Bill, daughter Donna Grimes, son Randy Dade and wife Susan, ten Grandchildren: Jennifer Emery, Jason Grimes, Heather McMahan, Courtney McMahan, Molly McInnis, Lacey Romaka, Mark Dade, Aren Dade, Garet Dade and Katelyn McGrath, and nine great grandchildren.

Out of respect for his wishes there will be no service. Please celebrate Larry's life and friendship in a way of your choosing.
