William Jackson

for William Mason (Bill) Jackson of Artesia,NM

Mr. Jackson passed away at home Monday, March 8, 2021.

Bill was born November 20, 1928 in Mayhill, NM the son of Marvin Mace Jackson and Georgia Elisabeth (Latham) Jackson.

On September 30, 1952 he married Maxine McAnally in Artesia,NM and they were married for 68 years. She preceded him in death March 4, 2020.

Bill served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 and was stationed in Guam. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Bill was a farmer in Cottonwood, NM for many years raising alfalfa, cotton, green chili and corn. He and Maxine loved playing card games and dominos with their friends. He loved watching Bulldog Football, the Dallas Cowboys and the Little League World Series. Bill and Maxine were members of the Good Sam Club and along with many of their good friends took many trips in their RV making many wonderful memories.

His grandchildren loved going to the farm so they could ride the tractors with Papaw (who he was lovingly referred to), ride the
4-wheelers and play in the stacks of hay in the barn.

Along with his wife Maxine, he is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter-in-law Robin Jackson.

He is survived by his sister Belle Elisabeth (Beth) Reed of Odessa, Texas, son David Jackson, daughter Jeanne Ferguson, and daughter Jamie Rollins and husband Kelly all of Artesia, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to our dad's wonderful caregivers Ruth, Justin, and Jennifer who, without them, this journey would have been so much harder. You have become like family to us. We would also like to thank the staff at Encompass Hospice who took wonderful care of our dad and helped us in so many ways.
