Shirley Smith

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 12, at Woodbine Cemetery for Shirley G. Smith of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs.Smith, 83, died September 9, 2019 at Landsun Homes in Carlsbad, N.M.

Darrell Brown will officiate at the services. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Wednesday from 11a.m. to 8 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren.

Shirley was born January 2, 1936 in Trenton TN to Felix Graves and Mary Kelley Graves. She moved to Artesia on January 2, 1963 from Tennessee. On November 4, 1966 she was married to Donald C. Smith. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2016.

She was a member of the Church of Christ and loved spending time with all of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters, and a son-in-law Jim Allison.

Survivors include her sons Rusty Smith and wife Jeanie, and Mike Smith and wife Margie; daughters Debbie Nichols and husband Jon, and Kim Allison, a sister Dathel Mathis; grandchildren Brooke Young, Brett Smith, Caleb Spence, Matthew Nichols, Travis Bilberry, Chelsea Bilberry, LaDona Barber, and Misty Bryant; 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-granchildren.
