Ronald Tice

March 16, 1956 — February 7, 2020

Ronald “Ronny” William Tice departed his body on February 7, 2020, after a brave fight with cancer. He entered this world on March 16, 1956, in Artesia to Mary (Smith) and Clifford Ray Tice.

From an early age he was a hard worker, which he carried with him throughout his entire life. A great problem-solver and handyman, there wasn’t much he couldn’t do. Fostering young minds and many friendships throughout his career, Ronny took immense pride in his profession at Concho Resources and was meticulous in his work. As a young man he enjoyed the outdoors and the company of his fellow huntsmen. A wonderful father to his children, he delighted in their company and conversations. A loquacious man, he loved to impart his wisdoms and talk about anything but ardently loved philosophical topics as well as discussing the universe. Golf was another passion of Ronny’s, and he had the perfect temperament for the game with his patience and sharp focus. Ronny had a deep spiritual side to him which included a personal faith in God. He became an avid reader as he aged and the top 100 books ever written were on his bucket list, many of which he savored. Ronny was reunited with his junior high sweetheart, Denise Tidwell, whom he shared a home with their two dogs.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers Tommy and Kenneth, step-mother Nan Tice, step-brother Johnny Taylor and step-sister Marilyn Taylor. He is survived by his wife; his daughters Sabra Christmas, husband Dean, and Ciarra Marrufo, husband Armando; his step-son Ryan Letcher, wife Tiffany; eight grandchildren: Hunter and Willie Christmas, Demi and Colette Marrufo, Braxton and Braylee Letcher, Reagan and Bentley Pitts; and sister Karen Derr, step-sisters Lisa Weinstein, Kay and Beth Taylor.

A celebration of his life will be held on March 9, 2020, at 2:00 PM, at West Main Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Paws and Claws, Artesia Public Library or the charity of one’s choice.
