Ronald Tasker

Celebration of life services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, May 7, 2021 at Harvest Fellowship for Ronald Charles Tasker of Ruidoso, New Mexico, formerly of Artesia.

Rev. Ronnie Williams will officiate the services. Visitation will be held at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Friday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Ron, 78, passed away May 4, 2021 in Lubbock, TX.

Ron was born October 21, 1942 in Piedmont, WV to Luther Tasker and Ruth Shugars Tasker. He married Carol Ann Usherwood on April 9, 1966 in Quincy, IL and later came to Artesia in 1976 after a time in Vero Beach, FL. Ron was a general contractor building houses in Artesia for many years. He then began working for Constructors, Inc. where his co-workers became his second family. Following his retirement from Constructors, Inc., Ron and Carol retired to Ruidoso, NM.

A very proud husband and father, "Pops" would tell everyone who would listen about his children, grandchildren and, in recent years, great-grandchildren!

Always rising before 6:00 AM, Ron started his day with his iPad, sending the encouraging Word of Jesus to family, co-workers and friends around the world. Additional morning duties included tracking the weather in the cities of each grandchild and checking in on all of us if we were sick, traveling or just seeing how our day was going.

Ron loved NASCAR, Baylor sports and playing cornhole and could be found looking off their deck in Ruidoso for elk and deer. A former pilot with a love for flying, if you ever started an airplane conversation with Ron, you'd better have some time to spare, because you where going to be there a while!

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Norma Lee Crisp.

Survivors include his wife Carol of Ruidoso; daughters Ronda Clayton & husband Ken of Artesia, and Kimberly Denton & husband Jay of Ft. Collins, Colorado;

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren - Jayson Denton & wife Megan of Waco, Texas; Skylor Morton of Nashville, TN; Hayden Denton & wife Kasey of Windsor, CO; Taylor Morton Lofgren & husband Keeton of Lubbock, Texas; Nathan Denton & Preslie Denton of Ft. Collins, CO; April Waters and husband Keaton of Artesia; Brian Clayton & wife Hanna of Los Alamos NM; Lacey Archuleta & husband Rob of Artesia and Kelsey Schmidt & husband Tyler of Chandler, Arizona.

Ron's grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren were the light of his world.
Other surviving family members include: Steve & Karen Usherwood of Artesia, NM, Skip & Barb Usherwood of Texas, Gene & Judy Myers of Quincy, Illinois, Ron and Gayle Usherwood of Texas, brother Eugene Tasker and wife Shirley of Keyser, W. Virginia, and multiple nieces and nephews as well as Eddie Renteria & Mario Fierro who were like sons to him.
