Randolph Lee Lewellen

November 6, 1953 ~ January 6, 2023 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Obituary

Randolph (Randy) Lee Lewellen, 69, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on January 6, 2023 after a valiant fight against cancer.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2 to 6m on Friday. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 14th at the First Baptist Church of Artesia. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Randy was born on November 6, 1953 in Hobbs, NM to Henry and Martha Lewellen. He was raised in Artesia, New Mexico, making many lifelong friends (who are like family). His love of sports started early and he was often heard saying "It's great to be a Bulldog" or in his later years "Go Frogs". His high school years were filled with choir, baseball, and being the manager for the football team. Randy graduated from Artesia High School in 1971.

He continued his education at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM, where he met the love of his life, Kathy Shirley. He graduated from ENMU in 1975 and they married the following year. Randy and Kathy shared 46 wonderful years together and were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kendra and Kacci who believe their marriage was a true testimate of God's love. Randy was a wonderful Dad to his girls and would tell anyone that would listen that girls can do anything boys can do, i.e. play ball, fish, & enjoy watching football. He was known to give "twinkle fingers" back at his girls while they were cheerleading and didn't care what others thought. They were truly his pride and joy as were his grandchildren. It brought great joy to Randy's life to watch each of his grandchildren grow and develop their individual interests. Papa was their biggest fan, whether it be Boy Scouts, jiu-jitsu, band, baseball, football, volleyball or weightlifting. Papas' words of advice were always "head up, shoulders back, smile on your face, read your Bible and spell your name right".

Randy loved going to work every day. From his early years as a pumper in Loco Hills, then on to Sonora, Midland, and Bowie he rose thru the ranks at EOG Resources meeting each new challenge presented him. He took great pride in building relationships with his fellow employees, encouraging them to be the best they could be as they watched their company succeed. Randy retired from EOG after a fulfilling and successful 43-year career as a SR Field Production Superintendent.

Randy is survived by his wife Kathy; daughters Kendra Holms (Nick), and Kacci Jacoby (Tom); grandchildren McKenzie, Benjamin, & Aliyah Holms, Gage & Levi Jacoby. He is also survived by his father Henry Lewellen, brother Scott Lewellen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Martha Randolph Lewellen.

Pallbearers will be Nick and Benjamin Holms, Tom, Gage, & Levi Jacoby, Jerud Butler, and Jason Butler.

Honorary pallbearers Robert Horner, Rhudy Maskew, Dwight Adamson, John David Thompson, Randy Szenasy & Rickey Hargrove.

The family would like to thank the staff at M D Anderson for their exceptional care.
