Lauranne Reynolds McDaniel, nee Horn, passed from this life on January 25, 2020, at her home in Artesia, NM.

She was born January 21, 1944 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and was raised in Loco Hills and Artesia, NM.

Lauranne was a wonderful homemaker and took special pride in cooking and baking for her friends and family. She was a loving wife, mom, and grandmother. Lauranne always had a special glow when a new baby was born into the family. Her Grandchildren called her Grananne and she truly encompassed the spirit of a loving and doting grandmother. She loved laughing, singing, listening to music, and watching classic movies.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Don McDaniel, with whom she owned and ran McDaniel Trucking, daughter of the heart, Debra Kay (Haskins) Bennett, her father, Burnie Johnson Rogers, mother, Bernice Houston Rogers, and sister, Lorraine Westerman.

Survivors include her son, James L. Smith, Jr. (Jamey) son of her heart, Waylon McDaniel, grandchildren Chandra (Bennett) Martin, C.W. Bennett, Erika Smith Riley, Jessikah Smith Komarek, Marlee Smith, Kyle McDaniel, and numerous great-grandchildren; Sister, Maureen Rogers Lemke, numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A graveyard service for burial of her ashes will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Artesia, NM at 10:00 am March 20, 2020.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Artesia General Hospital and at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas who treated Lauranne with skill and compassion. A Special thanks also goes to Summer, Glenn, Rosalita, and Margarita of Kindred who provided wonderful care, making her more comfortable in her final hours.

In her memory, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, or specifically to Hope Lodge in Lubbock, Texas which was a haven of comfort to her and family members as she took treatments for pancreatic cancer.
