Joyce Jones

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 14, at Woodbine Cemetery for Joyce Yvonne Jones of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Jones, 85, a longtime Artesia resident, died June 8, 2021 at her home.

Lee Roy Howard will officiate at the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Jones, Caleb Pinson, Zachary Pinson, Brady McCombs.

Joyce was born September 23, 1935 in Stratford, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Gibson and Ruby (Brendle) Gibson.

On August 10, 1953 she was married to Henry Ray Jones in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Terri Yvonne Steggs, son Michael Ray Jones, parents John Gibson and Ruby (Brendle) Gibson, and brother Charles Gibson.

She is survived by her son Kelly Jones; siblings Edith Mobley, Carolyn Gray, Darlene Savoie, Shirley Caple, Janie Brewington, Ellen Stoudt and John Gibson; grandchildren Kathy McCombs, John Pinson, Stephanie Murray, Denise Blakley, Britt Steggs, Kelsey Jones and Jackson Jones; great grandchildren Mattie McCombs, Brady McCombs, Zack Pinson, Alyssa Pinson, Caleb Pinson, Victoria Hall and Sydney Hall; great-great grandchild Kaisley Imparato; her best friend and caretaker Sherry Pinson; and her beloved cat, Kitty.

In lieu of flowers the family would request that memorial contributions be made to any local charity, the Dementia Society of America, or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
