Obituary

Private family services will be held for Joshua Peter Decoteau of Artesia, New Mexico on October 7, 2021.

Joshua, 39, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2021 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Terpening & Son Mortuary on Wednesday, October 6, from 2-6 pm.

Joshua was born on May 27, 1982 in Rolla, North Dakota; the son of Mark E. Decoteau and Tammy Indvik Decoteau.

Joshua spent his first 11 years of school in St. John North Dakota, moving to Artesia in 1999 graduating from Artesia Public High School in 2000. He enjoyed playing football for the Artesia Bulldogs. After high school he continued his education and was pursuing his bachelors' in business.

Joshua married the love of his life, Naomi (Renee) Rolan on June 1, 2001 in Artesia, New Mexico where they built their life. He was a loving husband and a proud father of three beautiful daughters Shelby, Molly and Haley. Beyond all else, Joshua cherished spending time with his family laughing, pulling pranks on his daughters and always had a smile on his face. His family was his world.

Joshua had a love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter who enjoyed camping, fly fishing and tying his own flies. He shared his love of the outdoors with his wife, daughters and family. Joshua enjoyed not only barbecuing for his family but also was the Pitmaster of the Bear Clan Barbeque team who took First Place Brisket their second year of competition.

Joshua worked at Napa Auto Parts for 6 years in Artesia New Mexico. In 2007 he started his career at Holly Frontier/Navajo Refining Company as an Operator and through the years promoted to Training Coordinator. He was a hard working, loyal employee who enjoyed his job. Above all Joshua, also known as "Pikachu", cherished the relationships built and the camaraderie amongst his friends and co-workers.

Joshua was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Always thinking of others first, to know him is to love him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents George Decoteau, Vernon Indvik and Fay Indvik.

Joshua leaves behind a loving wife Naomi Decoteau; parents Mark and Tammy Decoteau; daughters Shelby, Molly and Haley Decoteau; a sister Ramona (Cyndi) Decoteau; grandmother Marlis Decoteau; several Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
