A celebration of life is scheduled for 2pm Thursday, December 2, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church of Artesia. Pallbearers will be Brandon Davis, Dustin Dolan, Jarrod Davis, Eric Owens, Justin Cruce, and Jonathan Rodriguez.

Bob is survived by his wife, Onie Davis of the home; children: Bobbie Dolan and husband Donnie, Dennis Davis and wife Diane, and Willie Davis; grandchildren: Kaci Owens and husband Eric, Brandon Davis, Angela Cruce and husband Justin, Kimberly Rodriguez and husband Jonathan, Shelby Neuenfeldt, Dustin Dolan, Jarrod Davis and Montana, and Dalton Davis; great grandchildren: Kyle, Andrew, Kailyn, Kristan, Austin, Kyleigh, LeAnna, Zaydenn, Raegan, Zariah, Zaydah, and Nolyn; sisters: Liz and husband Harry, Margaret, Thelma, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Flossie Davis, and two brothers, Joe Jr. and Tommy.

Bob was born on October 21, 1937 in Yorkville, Tennessee and graduated from Yorkville High School in 1957. He moved to Artesia in 1959 and married his treasured wife of 61 years on June 27, 1960. He worked for Steere Tank Lines for 35 years and Navajo Refinery for 10 years before retiring in 1991.

Bob was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and above all else, Papa. He was a protector, the rock of the family, the strongest man we all knew, and most importantly a hero to all his grand and great grandkids. He had the ability to captivate any room with the best stories and everyone hung onto every word he said like it was the most important thing they had ever heard, because it was told by Papa. He was a fearless force in our family who could weather any storm with his patience, reassuring words, and resilience. Papa never met a stranger and was able to make anyone laugh and feel right at home. He was passionate about the things in life that he enjoyed and shared his love of fishing, hunting, picking the guitar, and his love for all bluegrass music. He also enjoyed cheering on his St. Louis Cardinals, Tennessee Volunteers, Dallas Cowboys, and Artesia Bulldogs. Papa cherished his family and his happiest moments included those surrounded by the people he loved. He shaped our family into what it is today, and his legacy will continue to live on as we all try to live up to the example that he set. Bob can never be replaced and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We love you, Papa.
