Harvey Smith

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Harvest Fellowship for Harvey Dale Smith of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Smith, 69, died May 29, 2020 at his home in Artesia.

Ty Bean will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Trampas Spence, John Berry, Joe Bogle, Aaron Bogle, John Etchevary, Ken Smith, Jimmy Maxwell, and Jon Solt.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2-4 pm.

Harvey was born May 31, 1950 in Roswell NM to James Smith and Juanita Wheeler Smith.

Harvey was a horseman, cowboy, and team roper that raised and supported his family building barns and dairies. He was an Icon and Legend in the Team Roping community. He produced ropings for 47 years. Harvey was a family man, he raised his kids and grandkids to love the sport of rodeo. Harvey never met a stranger. His life was filled with many friends and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his wife Meann Smith; a grandson Quincey Wills; his parents James and Juanita Smith; a brother Austin Smith, and a sister Betty Ann Darr.

Survivors include daughter Leslie Wills and husband Kelvin Mendenhall; son Brian Smith and wife Kim; step-sons Jody Jackson and wife Larissa, and JR Jackson and wife Tasha; brother Everett Smith; sister Olivia Clanton; grandchildren Tanner, Kayla, Garrett, Tanner, Jordan, Jade, Jewel, and Kevin; great-grandchildren Hudson and Hadlee.
