Harry Clark

Harry J Clark of Artesia, NM passed away February 6, 2021. He was born in Binghamton, New York on September 6, 1926 to the late Harry M. Clark and Grace I Chase.

Harry served in the US Army during World War II as a paratrooper. He was stationed in Jinmachi, Japan. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He spent his career working in the western part of the US on a seismograph crew and as a truck driver. He retired in his 80’s as an escort driver for Wilbanks Trucking in Artesia, NM.

Harry enjoyed wood working, debating politics with his sons in law, camping in the mountains, listening to Classic Country, watching Hee-Haw and Larry’s Country Diner. His favorite place was Mayhill, NM. He enjoyed getting his hair cut at Diane’s and eating lunch with family at the Mayhill Café.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Bette Clark of Artesia, NM; children Susan Shpiruk of Punta Gorda, Florida, Danny Clark and wife Denise of Elmwood Park, New Jersey, Pat Schamble of Port Charlotte, Florida, Joe Clark and wife Susana of Lovington, NM and three stepdaughters, Kathy Wilbanks and husband Ronnie of Mayhill, NM, Debbie Shuman and husband Johnny of Artesia, NM and Donna Marsh of Midland, TX. He had 19 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandchild.

The family will have a private service in Mayhill in the spring. If you would like to honor Harry, please make donations to the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home in Portales, NM, the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales, NM, or the charity of your choice.
