Ethel Mayberry

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Friday, June 10, at Woodbine Cemetery for Delores Ethel Mayberry.

Mrs. Mayberry, 100, died on June 3, 2022 at Artesia Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Mayberry was born January 23, 1922, in Granite, Oklahoma. The daughter of Edgar V. and Ethel May Daniel Mayrhofen. Her loving foster parents were Steven and Mary Em Gilbert. She married her love, L.C. Mayberry, December 23, 1975.

She was raised in Artesia, N.M. In 1934, she went to live with her foster parents, the Gilberts, who gave her a loving, caring and beautiful Christian home.

She was employed with the Artesia Public School Administration office for 32 years. She made wonderful friends, who became a part of her family. One of her greatest joys of life was singing in the Presbyterian Church choir. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family and friends. Her favorite things were seeing and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Survivors include her daughter; Mary Emily Curry and husband, Leroy Curry of Artesia, New Mexico, son; Mark Felton of Plano, Texas. Grandchildren; Gena Vest and husband, Ronnie Vest of Visalia, California, Julia Olguin and husband Eli Olguin of San Antonio, Texas, David Curry of Artesia, New Mexico, Mitzi Miner and husband, David Miner, of Benton, Arkansas, Jeremy Felton and wife Christina Felton of Benton, Arkansas. Sister-in-law; JoAnn Mayberry of Artesia, New Mexico. Twelve great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband; L.C. Mayberry, daughter-in-law; Eileen Felton, parents, foster parents, four sisters and six brothers.

The family wanted to express its' gratitude for all the love, devotion, care and compassion Enhabit Home Health and Hospice, along with Artesia Healthcare and Rehabilitation showed to our loved one and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Artesia and/or Enhabit Home Health and Hospice.
