Dorothy Morgan

January 7, 1947 — April 8, 2021

Dorothy Luease Morgan, 74, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Artesia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Artesia, NM where she was lovingly cared for the past two years.

A graveside service celebrating her life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Woodbine Cemetery. We ask that those attending her celebration wear bright colors by her request. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 711 W. Washington, Artesia, NM 88210.

Born January 7, 1947 in Porter, Oklahoma, Dorothy was the daughter of Richard Ernest and Dora Elenora (Slape) Morgan. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernest Lee Morgan and sister-in-law Mary Annette Morgan.

Not having children of her own, she found joy in claiming her niece, nephew, and their kids as hers. She was affectionately known to them as "Nanie". She relished family gatherings and enjoyed capturing memories with her camera. She passed down many family traditions and recipes that will carry on through future generations. She loved to craft and spend time with her friends creating sewing, embroidery, and yarn projects.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and considered the congregation her family and they loved her well. She was also a member of the Women's Baptist Association. She enjoyed being the sender of cards of encouragement and care from her church to others in the community.

She is survived by her nephew Richard and wife Kim Morgan, great nephews Skyler and wife Christy, Shilo and wife Crisha, Dalton and wife Laura, Devin and wife Magaly, and Trey Morgan of Artesia, NM. She is also survived by her niece Tammy and husband Steven Brown, great nephews Chris and Trevor Brown and great niece Emma Brown of
Wolfforth, TX.

All of us will miss her sweet spirit, kind words and her big hugs. Her parting words to us were always "I love you a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck."
We look forward to those hugs once we are gathered together again. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
