Carol Jean Cox Northam -

Service are scheduled for 10 am Saturday. April 9, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Carol Jean Northam. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Allen, Dusty Allen, Andy Allen, Paul Northam, Rusty Westfall, Ryan Craine, and Rhonda Bollman.

Born in Artesia, New Mexico, Feb. 26, 1945, Carol was a Godly woman, wife, mother, and grandmother. A life-long member of the church of Christ, Carol passed from this life, Monday, March 28, 2022, in Houston, Texas, of natural causes.

Survived by husband, Thurman Ray Northam; children, Rhonda Gayle Bollman and Paul Ray Northam; daughter-in-law Heather Leigh Lewis Northam; grandchildren Katy Brooke Bollman, Kobe James Bollman, Luke Conner Northam, Lydia Ella Northam, and Micah Lynn Lewis Northam; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jo and Smith Allen, and a large family including numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. To her family, she was "Sister" or "Aunt Sister." To be her friend was an honor; to have her as a friend was to have someone you could always count on.

Carol was preceded in death by her father, J.B. (James Benjamin) Cox and mother, Vernace Marie McCasland Cox.

She graduated from Artesia High School in 1963 and from Massey Business College in 1969.

Carol and Thurman Northam married June 3, 1966. Following their marriage, they lived in Chicago and Lamesa, finally settling in Houston, Texas in 1970.

Carol had a long-varied career including culinary arts, school food services (specializing in wonderful desserts), then working with special needs students at Sparks Elementary School in Pasadena, Texas. Carol's favorite hobby was using a needle and thread. She loved to sew, crochet, knit, quilt, embroider, and even reupholstered furniture.

She always found time to visit the sick and help where she was needed. Never meeting a stranger, she was a loyal, caring, generous, much-loved friend.

Although she is missed more than we can express, her spirit lives on within us, and we take solace in the knowledge that she is no longer suffering but is in the arms of her loving Lord and Savior.
