Services for Dub Laman, (W.J. Laman Jr) will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018,10:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 711 West Washington Street, Artesia, NM, with Pastor Rick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. He went to be with his Lord on his brother Cecil's birthday, June 3, 2018, at San Pedro Nursing and Rehabilitation Home.

Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 6th at Terpening and Son Funeral Home from 10:00 to 7:00, with family receiving visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Funeral Home.

Dub the 8th child of 11 children born to W.J. and Loudie Edith Brown Laman, was born on the Moore Place in Mason County Texas, June 27,1929. He married Betty Lou Cantrell, in December of 1954.

Dub came to Artesia from Texas with his family in 1932. He went to school on Cottonwood and worked as a mechanic all of his life. From Guy Chevrolet, City Garage to his final shop, "Dub Laman's Home Town Garage" working for Bill Johnson and Cecil Conklin Farms. He loved gospel music, played an accordion and sang many a song at Church and anywhere anyone would listen. He made headline news by turning a fox loose in the Landsun Theatre during his lifetime.

Dub is survived by two daughters, Linda Laman of Roswell, NM, and Gayla Nizzi and friend Donnie of Artesia, NM. Five grandchildren, Tabatha and husband Jesus Trujillo of Artesia, NM, Scotty DeHoyos and wife Robin of Plano, TX, Jacob DeHoyos of New York City, NY, April Lanning and fiance Daniel Munoz Jr. of Roswell, N.M., and Heather Mathews of Odessa, TX. Seven great grandchildren, Tessa Mathews, Jace Lanning, Cameron DeHoyos, Madison DeHoyos, Emerson DeHoyos, Devon Torres and BaileyTrujillo. One brother, Vernon Laman and wife Idella of Artesia, NM. Three sisters. Hazel Keesee Brown of Comanche, TX, Loma Ranne of Llano, TX, and Betty Pelts of San Marcos, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty Lou in 2002, daughter Patty Sue in 1966, brothers, Aubrey, Roy, Grover, Barney, and Cecil Laman. Sister Gladys Valeta Laman.

Pallbearers Daniel Munoz Jr., Daniel Laman, Jesus Trujillo, Jace Lanning, Bill Laman, Marvin Laman , Dale Laman, Honorary pallbearers Bill Johnson and Cecil Conklin and sons and all the men at Calvary Baptist Church.
