Willie Sanders

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 16, at Terpening Son Chapel for Willie Mae Sanders, 1107 N. 8th St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Sanders, 85, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Artesia General Hospital. Rev. Thomas Ford will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clarence Sentell, Dunas Stearns, Raymond Colter, Edward Mullen, Roosevelt Harvey, and Harry Raglin. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Friday beginning at 10:00 AM. Mrs. Sanders was born July 9, 1919 in New Summerfield, Texas; the daughter of Jerry Fuller and Lida Lee Thompson Fuller. In September of 1937 she was married to Autry Sanders in Jacksonville, Texas. She came to Artesia in 1946 from Jacksonville. He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1996. She was a Cook for the Elks Club. She was a member of Thompson Chapel C.M.E. Church, and also Eastern Star for 52 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and 2 sisters. Survivors include son Bennie Sanders of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers Oscar Elmer Thompson of Artesia, Emerson Earl Thompson of Menlo Park, Calif., and Jerry Fuller of California; grandchildren Sherri Sanders of Conyers, Georgia, and Cheryl Sanders of Albuquerque, N.M.; great-grandchild James Autry Sanders of Conyers.
