Memorial services are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, at Valley Christian Church, 2001 W. Grand Ave., for Weldon David Landers, Jr. of Artesia, New Mexico. PMr. Landers, 63, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at his home. PMr. Landers was born April 13, 1945 in San Angelo, Texas; the son of Weldon David Landers and Evelyn Sue Clevinger Landers. PHe served his country in the United Stated Army. POn May 25, 1990 he was married to Jeanne Young in Carlsbad, N.M. He came to Artesia in the early 1970s from Texas. PDavid was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Artesia at the transfer station. He was also a member of Los Perdonados, and an avid motorcyclist. PHe was preceded in death by a sister, and step-father Herman Peoples.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne Landers of the family home; parents Evelyn Landers of Hobbs, N.M., and Weldon Landers of Ballinger, Texas; son Kenney Landers of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; step-daughters Melanie Perry of Elgin, Texas, and Donna Byers of Fayetteville, Arkansas; brothers Lee Peoples of Hobbs, and Larry Landers of Texas; sisters Mary James of Hobbs, Paula Rome of Louisiana, Sharon Sellers of Austin, Texas, and Linda Larson of Austin; grandchildren Deanna Landers of Greenwood, Arkansas; Payten and Kaitlyn Parsons of Elgin, and Jessica, Jonathon, Jovon, Shelly and J'Den Perry all of Elgin.
