Steve was born July 14, 1959, in Kerrville, Texas, to Elmer C. and Margaret Patricia (Cole) Stamps.
On Dec. 28, 1996, he married the love of his life, Kathy Fanning Stamps, in Hiram, Ga. The couple moved to Artesia in March 1999.
Steve loved his life, his fur-babies, and most especially his wife. Although he was a “Texan” through and through, he quickly adapted to his new lifestyle in New Mexico and became accustomed to his life as an “Artesian.” Wherever Kathy was, was where he wanted to be. His final want in his earthly world was for people to “just be kind to one another.”
Survivors include his loving wife, Kathy, of Artesia; goddaughter Maegan Lemon of Artesia; sister Patricia Spears of Denton County, Texas; brother Michael Stamps of Mills County, Texas; 10 nieces; one nephew; six great-nieces; six great-nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Laura M. Stamps of Wyoming; and brother Phillip R. Stamps of Maryland.
