Steve A. Davis

January 7, 1943 — June 1, 2025

Steve peacefully lost his battle with cancer on June 1, 2025. He was born in Silver City, New Mexico, on January 7, 1943, and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Taylor Davis, and one son, Steve A. Davis III (Andy).

Steve graduated from Artesia High School in 1961 and attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell in 1962 and 1963. He went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from McMurry College in Abilene. After college, he taught school and coached football and girls' basketball for several years, then joined the family business where he spent his lifetime selling firetrucks and fire equipment until retirement in 2020.

His extra time activities included ushering at the First United Methodist Church in Lubbock, of which he was a member. He was also an Assistant Scout Master, coached several all-star baseball teams, played men's and co-ed softball, and was a devoted fan of Texas Tech football and basketball. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Steve Anderson Davis (Tiny) and Virginia Kesler Davis, and sister Carolyn Joyce Davis. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Davis, son Steve (Andy), and daughter-in-law Marcye Davis, his brother Ron Davis, and sister Janel Runyan, several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Randi ad Eric Kirkpatrick, Seth and Kelly Smith, Great-grandchildren Kalli, Krosslyn, Koleigha, Ariana, and Kruze Kirkpatrick, and Harlow Smith with another great-grandchild on the way.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Twin Oaks Memorial Park, 59 Lake Arthur Hwy, Artesia, New Mexico. A lunch and celebration of life will follow immediately at the fellowship hall in the First Methodist Church of Artesia.
