Services are scheduled for 10 am on July 9, 2026 at Our Lady of Grace for Sofia D. Tesillo of Artesia, New Mexico. 

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Damian and Alonzo Valencia, Ralph Romero Jr, Fabian Torres, Jose Andres Tesillo, and Freddy Torres Jr. 

Mrs. Tesillo 80, passed away on July 2, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family in Artesia.

Father Vijay will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. A rosary is scheduled for 6:00 pm Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. 

Sofia was born on December 12, 1945, in Artesia to Hemeregildo and Eva Delgado. She was married to Natividad Tesillo on June 1, 1964, and he proceeded her in death on November 23, 2021.

Sofia was a housewife who raised 11 children.

She enjoyed going to Bingo where she was known to win quite often. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and making them her famous pancakes. Her door was always open to family and strangers with a home cooked meal and made sure everyone was always taken care of.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Natividad, her son, Natividad Jr., daughter Sylvia Tesillo, granddaughter Ciara Tesillo, grandson Alonzo Valencia Jr., great granddaughter Eiley Romero, great grandson Cairo Tesillo, brother Abel Delgado and sister Elisa Bejarano.

Survivors include Nancy Torres (Rito Torres), Daniel Tesillo (Graciela Tesillo), Ernest Tesillo, Missy Juarez (Bryan Juarez), Lori Torres (Saul Torres), Jose Luis Tesillo, Jennifer Tesillo, Jessica Tesillo-Valencia (Alonzo Valencia) Christina Payan, (Gabrial Payan)

Brothers Leo Delgado, Jesse Delgado, Johnny Delgado, and Joe Delgado and sister Teresa Jaramillo

Sofia is also survived by her 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extended Special recognition to the Hospice team (Enhabit) especially to her nurses Melissa and Ginger. A very special thank you and appreciation from the family to Graciela Tesillo for her devoted care to our mother/grandmother
