Roger Kearnes

Roger Harry Kearnes, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on July 10, 2025, in his home of Artesia, NM. He was born on May 30, 1944, to Roy and Emma (Berger) Kearnes in Hebron, North Dakota.

Cremation will take place under the direct care of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Roger dedicated over 50 years of his life to the oil and gas industry, working in sales and safety. His career took him across several states, including Montana, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and New Mexico.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Roger found solace in fishing and hunting. Those who knew him often spoke of his genuine spirit, noting that he was an angel in the lives of many.

He truly lived for his family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roger is preceded by his parents, Roy and Emma Kearnes; brother, Jerry Kearnes; sister, Sharon Kearnes; and ever faithfull puppy, Sadie.

Those left to cherish the memory of Roger are his loving wife, Gay Kearnes; daughter, Cindy Anderton (Jubal); sons, Roger Kearnes, Jr. (Tammy) and Kevin Kearnes (Lauri); step children, Sandy Riley, Bryan Riley (Courtney), Trudy Thorsen, and Tina; along with fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Roger was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. It's said God only takes the best, and He did just that when He called Roger and Sadie home!
