Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 8 at Hope United Methodist Church for Robert Earl Lee, 269 Braid, Hope, New Mexico. Mr. Lee, 73, died Friday, March 1, 2002 at Cierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. Rev. Jean Riley will officiate at the services with burial at Lower Hope Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Devine, Dr. Jose Silva, Frank McCallick of Ventura, Calif., Edmund Loya, Tom Figg, Denis Riley, Carl Rogers and Fred Kimble; all past and present employees of Central Valley Electric; all members of Artesia A.F. A.M. Lodge No. 28; and all his friends. Mr. Lee was born March 23, 1928 in James, Texas; the son of Robert Lee and Katie Foulger Lee. He came to Artesia in 1950 from Texas and moved to Hope in May of 1959. On May 16, 1981 he was married to Jeanette McCallick in El Paso. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a mechanic for Central Valley Electric Co-operative and member of Hope United Methodist Church; and the Artesia Masonic Lodge 28. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by four sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife Jeanette Lee of the family home; sons Robert W. Lee and wife Kay of Garden City, Kansas and H. E. Gene Lee and wife Sandra of Roswell, N.M.; daughters Kandy Lee Haldeman and husband Charles of Artesia and Wendy Lee Jones and husband Bobby of Artesia; sisters Willie Huckaby of Artesia and Laverne Woods and husband Cecil of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother Homer Lee and wife Yvonne of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren Kelsey Lee and Kayla Lee of Garden City, Julie Lee Hodges and husband Tim of Roswell and Casey Haldeman, Amber Jones and Kaylee Jones all of Artesia; great-grandchildren Chelsi Matteucci and Taylor Hodges both of Roswell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
