Pete Hernandez

Services are scheduled for 10 am Friday, July 22, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Pete Devon Lara Hernandez of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Hernandez, 19, passed from this life into eternal life on saturday July 16, 2022 in Artesia,

Father Vijay will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am on Friday. Pallbearers will be, Kobe Petree, Damian Baeza, Johnny Lara III, Ruben Lara, Billy Joe Aranda, Pedro Ibarra, Julio Baeza; Honorary Pallbearers will be, Steven Ray Hernandez, Joshua Lara, Shi Hernandez, Stephen Hernandez, Maliyah Merrifield, Mark Jr. Merrifield. Lectors will be Kiersten Jude and Jennifer Hernandez

Pete was born on May 25, 2003 in Carlsbad, New Mexico; the son of Steven B. Hernandez and Carmen Lara Hernandez. He was raised by Grandmother Adalberta Lara; Uncle Lee Herrera and wife Laronna.

He was a 2021 graduate of Artesia High school where he played football for the Artesia Bulldogs.
Pete loved cooking and grilling new recipes for his family and friends. He enjoyed playing Magic The Gathering card game, caring for his many animals especially turtles which were his favorites. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends watching movies specifically anime and Hulk. Pete loved traveling with his family to other states and seeing and doing new things. He was very reserved in his manner but always had a smile that spoke volumes. His first job was at McDonalds, then went on to Walmart and finally The Comfort Inn and Suites where he did maintenance for the hotel. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by Maternal Grandfather Johnny Sr. Lara, Paternal Grandfather and Grandmother Pedro and Lola Hernandez, Maternal Great grandparents Anthony Sr. and Lillia Lara, Great grandparents Samuel and Paula Herrera and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins.


He is survived by his parents Steven and Carmen Hernandez; his grandmother Adalberta Lara; brothers Steven Ray Hernandez and wife Jennifer, Josh Lara, and Shi Hernandez; a sister Stephanie Hernandez; uncles Lee Herrera and wife Laronna and Johnny Jr. Lara and wife Roberta; nephews Stephen Hernandez, Maliyah Merrifield, and Mark Anthony Merrifield; nieces Savannah Dominguez, Vivien Alvarez, and Gillian Dominguez; cousins Serenity Lara, Johnny Lara III, and Ruben Lara.
