Norma Schneider

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2, at Terpening & Son Mortuary for Norma Jo Schneider of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Schneider, 87, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at her home in Artesia.

Jim Barnett will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery.

Mrs. Schneider was born on February 21, 1930 in Cottonwood, New Mexico; the daughter of T. A. Southard and Beulah Bostick Southard. She was a lifelong area resident.

On Dec. 1, 1959 she was married to Earl Schneider in Artesia. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2004.

Norma has served as head bookkeeper at First National Bank and also as the Assistant Postmaster at the Lakewood, N.M. post office. She was a member of the Hope Church of Christ, an accomplished artist, and enjoyed camping, fishing, and growing roses, vegetables and pecans.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother William Southard.

Survivors include step-sons Jon Durk Schneider and wife Janis of Guadalupita, N.M., Gary Wayne Schneider and wife Claudia of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Steven Craig Schneider and wife Karen of Amarillo, Texas; brother Robert Southard and wife Mary of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law Anna Southard of Clovis, N.M.; grandchildren Tim Schneider and wife Angie, Sam Schneider and wife Kelli, Andrea Jacobberger and husband Andrew, Kristina Schneider, Jacob Schneider and wife Abbie, and Jennifer Studebaker and husband John; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
