Nola Ochenrider

Nola Mae Ochenrider Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 25, at First United Methodist Church in Artesia for longtime Artesia resident Nola Mae Ochenrider, Gallup, New Mexico. Mrs. Ochenrider, 102, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 in Gallup. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Terpening Son Mortuary. Nola Mae was born December 15, 1902 in Creston, Iowa; the daughter of Jacob Harvey Jones and Cora Mae Tilton Jones. She came to Artesia in December of 1925 from Carlsbad, N.M. She married Thomas Ivy Phillips on Feb. 1, 1920 in Carlsbad. He died in July of 1960. On March 24, 1954 she was married to Chauncy O. Ochenrider in Roswell, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1965. She was a retired beauty operator. She was a member of First United Methodist Church since 1929, where she sang in the choir until she was in her 80's and was a member of Women's Circle Number 1. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center, the Roswell Christian Women's Club, Artesia General Hospital Auxiliary, D.A.V. Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Bataan Relief Organization. She was preceded in death by her son Dr. Wallace R. Phillips. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Marcell Phillips of Gallup, N.M.; a sister Thelma Brown of Artesia; grandchildren Laurence Robert Phillips of Corrales, N.M., Nicholas Paul Phillips of chandler, Ariz., and Mary Katherine Phillips of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three great-grandchildren.
