Mildred Smith

Funeral services are schedule for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3 at First Baptist Church for Mildred "Meann" Smith of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Smith, 63, passed away on June 29, 2018 at her home.

Ed Hickey will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Joe Bogle, Aaron Bogle, Scott Bean, Jimmy Maxwell, Brad Morris, John Berry and Cody Richardson. Honorary pallbearers are her sons and grandsons.

There will be visitation on Monday, July 2 at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 11: 00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Mildred was born on January 27, 1955 in Artesia, N.M.; the daughter of John W. and Angie Ann (Stephens) Miller. She was a graduate of the Artesia High School class of 1973. On May 23, 1988 she married Harvey Smith in Artesia.

She was a cook and a housewife. She was a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Ronald Miller.

Survivors include her husband Harvey Smith of Artesia; son Jody Jackson and wife Larissa of Artesia, J.R. Jackson of Hobbs, N.m. and Brian Smith and wife Kim of Hagerman, N.m.; daughter Leslie Wills and husband Kelvin of Lovington, N.M.; brothers Johnny Miller of Artesia and John Robert Miller of Boulder City, N.V.; sister Emma Jean Daughtry of Artesia; grandchildren Quincey Wills, Tanner McRae, Mackayla McRae, Jade Jackson, Jewel Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Tanner Hamill, Garrett Hamill and Jordan Hamill; great-grandchild Hudson Kincaid Tarango; caregiver of six years Danielle Gordy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
