Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Mary Elizabeth Smith of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Smith, 96, passed away on July 5, 2019 at Artesia General Hospital.

Darrell Brown will officiate at the services.

Mary was born on June 11, 1923, in Dalhart TX, the daughter of Gene Bartley and Elizabeth (Denton) Bartley.

On September 20,1943, she was married to Robert E. Smith in Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death on June 8th, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Robert, and her grandson Wade, one brother John, five sisters Lillian, Avis, Jeanie, Lucille and Lois.

Mary was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook. She enjoyed spending much of her time with friends at the Senior Citizens Center where she and her husband Bob enjoyed crafts including painting, beading, and anything else that came along. Mary was a talented atrist, painting scenes of beautiful landscape and flowers. The friends that she made at the Senior Citizens Center as well as the meal site will always be treasured.

Survivors include sons Lynn and wife Phyl of Lovington, and David Smith and wife Janell of Artesia. Also included are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
