Maria Torrez

A memorial graveside service is scheduled for 1 pm Friday, May 10 at the Lake Arthur Cemetery for Maria Torrez.

Mrs. Torrez, 88, died on April 15, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Maria was born on August 18, 1935 in Bryan, Texas; the daughter of Victor Valdez and Nocolasa Sauceda Valdez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Dionicio Romero and Raul Torrez, sons Alex Romero, and Alfonso Romero, and a daughter Mary Jessie Romero.

Survivors include her children Viola Garcia, Alfred Romero, Billy Romero, Erica Taylor, Noel Romero, Desna Wolf, Maxine Romero, and Milton Romero; brothers Manuel Moreno and Dimas Moreno; sisters Martha Almager, Marina Vargas, and Margaret Hensley; also by 29 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
