Linda Calvert

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday July 6th at Hermosa Church of Christ Fireside Room for Linda Ruth Calvert of Artesia, New Mexico. Scott Scroggin will officiate.

Linda passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Linda was born on February 17, 1937 to William Martin Siegenthaler, Sr. and Lois (Davis) Siegenthaler in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her family later moved to Falls Church, Virginia while her father worked in Washington DC. In 1946, her family moved to Artesia, New Mexico. She graduated from Artesia High School in 1955.

On February 17, 1956 she married the love of her life, Donald Calvert, who lovingly called her Babe. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage. Don and Linda made their home in Artesia, NM with a brief time in Roswell, NM in the late 60s. They lived in the Cottonwood area for 37 years before moving into town in 2008.

Linda was a member of the Hermosa Church of Christ and loved her church family. She was known for her generous heart, quick wit and loving hugs. She loved to play games and was always ready to do so anytime you were ready for the challenge. Linda will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Calvert, her son David Calvert, her grandson Dakota Neel, her sisters Loy Sue Siegenthaler, Lou Ann Patterson and Rowena Dale Laab, her brother, William Martin Siegenthaler, Jr. and her brothers-in-law Jerry Simmons and Devon Love.

Survivors include her daughters Donna Scroggin (Tommy), Dianna Neel (Doug) and Denise Sevcik (Martin) all of Artesia, NM.

She was Nana to her grandchildren Scott Scroggin (Amy) of Artesia, NM, Lara Conklin (Derek) of Artesia, NM, Deonna Wade (Dane) of Lubbock, TX, Tara Neel of Artesia, NM, Dathan Calvert (Stacey) of Boerne, TX and Daniel Calvert of Auckland, New Zealand.

She was Nana to her Great-grandchildren Colbie & Kinley Scroggin of Artesia, NM, Kaelyn, Paityn and Kash Conklin of Artesia, NM, Cole and Allie Wade of Lubbock, TX, Everett Neel of Artesia, NM, Charlotte and Oliver Calvert of Boerne, TX and Asher Calvert of Auckland, New Zealand.

She loved all of her nieces and nephews and was especially close to Dena Crouch (Randell) of Artesia, NM who spent wonderful quality time with her.

She is also survived by her sister, Kay Beth (Butch) Stavley of May, TX, and sisters-in-law Sharon Siegenthaler of Medford, OR, Marion (Jerry) Shaw of Mountainair, NM, Peggy Love of Rio Rancho, NM and Jean Simmons of Florissant, MO.

The family would like to thank all of her caregivers who have been a blessing to her and her girls. These are Maria Marquez, Isela Marquez, Maribel Varelas, Estela Gonzalez, Luz Elva Muniz, Jacque Trueblood and Yvonne Williams. Also, our heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice, for their care and compassion.
