Leora, 94, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on January 18, 2026, in her home in Artesia. She was born on May 28, 1931, to Ellis Scott and Minnie (Fisher) Wilson in Mayetta, Kansas.
Leora found joy in crafting-sewing, crocheting, beadwork, and weaving-creating beauty with her hands and care in every stitch. She found peace in gardening, especially in exotic plants and orchids. She loved to read and found comfort in stories and learning. Above all, she was devoted to raising her family. The greatest legacy is the love she gave, the values she instilled, and the lives she shaped. Though deeply missed, she lives on in the memories she's left behind.
Leora is preceded by her husband, Fred York, sister Barbara Nichols, nephew Joe Wayne York, father Ellis Scott, mother Minnie Wilson, and many beloved others.
Those left to cherish her memory are 3 daughters Betty Blanton, Sue Bradley, Sherry York; grandchildren Crystal Marrs, Betty Bond, Terri Sullivan, Blaine Bradley, Brice Bradley, Lorie Glenn-Kuntz, Jake Glenn, Brent Smith; and numerous great grandchildren as well as great-great grandchildren.
