Larry Dale Ivans, age 73, of Artesia, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on February 18, 1952, to John Delbert and Lossie Lavern Ivans. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic, unshakable values, and deep devotion to family that guided him throughout his life. Larry dedicated more than 30 years to the oil and gas industry, working cold mornings, hot nights, and long hours to provide for his family.
Larry’s father instilled in him a love for music, storytelling, and the great outdoors. When he wasn’t working, Larry could be found hunting, fishing, or camping. One of his greatest joys was chasing mule deer with his son and the little boy who gave him his most cherished title—“G-Daddy.”
His immense love for his wife, children, and grandchildren became his favorite pastime. Later in life, when he could no longer climb mountains, the rough country never left him. They lived on through his countless stories that became a legend to us all.
The greatest decision Larry ever made was saying yes to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He sealed that decision through baptism, standing alongside his mother — our beloved Bobo. He cherished Sundays spent alongside his family at Lake Arthur Baptist Church, where he continued to grow deeper in his faith.
Genesis 27:3 -“Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me,” A verse he lived by daily.
Larry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat Ivans; his children, Wes and Shara Ivans of Artesia, NM, and Pam and Jason Krogman of Blanchard, OK; his grandchildren, Christian and Paisley Krogman, Kyle and Payton Krogman, Brooklynn Ivans, Dorian Cortese, and Jules Cortese; his great-grandchildren, Kohen (4), Stetson (3), and Boden Krogman (8 m); his sister Arlene Ivans Evans; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Harold and Stan Ivans.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on January 26, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church, under the direction of Terpening and Son Mortuary with Michael Elliott officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the National Rifle Association in Larry’s memory.
