A Memorial "Come and Go" Gathering will be held for Larry Thurman Cottrell at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at West Main Baptist Church.
Larry, 76, passed away on October 6, 2026, at his home in Artesia. He was born on December 13, 1949, in Brownfield, Texas.
Larry served in the Army National Guard for seven years after high school. As a young man, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes on mountain trails with friends. He worked as a communications technician for Mountain Bell/Us West/Qwest in Artesia for 33 years. After retirement, he took over High Dessert Computer, a computer repair shop on Main Street in Artesia, which he ran for a few years before selling. He enjoyed staying in the mountains at his vacation home. He liked watching football and especially loved the Artesia Bulldogs.
Larry is preceded by his parents, Bob and Betty Cottrell, formerly of Artesia.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Donna Cottrell of Artesia; his son, Lee Cottrell and wife, Alexa of Artesia, grandchildren, Logan Cottrell, Caius Cottrell, Autianna Juarez, Keianna Juarez and Jose Domingues, and great-grandchild Essiah Guerrero; his daughter, Valerie Mackey and husband, Greg of Lindsay, Oklahoma and grandchildren, Noelle Mackey and Theodore Mackey; his sister, Judy Ground and husband, Norman of Burleson, Texas and brother, Ricky Cottrell and wife, Kathy of Lake Wales, Florida.
