Judi Lynn Golden, age 73, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026.
She was born on February 13, 1953, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, to Bill and Velda Black. Judi's life was marked by meaningful places and lasting relationships. In 1970, she moved to Denver, beginning a new chapter of independence and growth. She later moved to Capitan, New Mexico, in 1971. In 1976, Judi moved to Artesia, New Mexico, a place that would become her long-time home and where she met the love of her life, Rob Golden. On October 5, 1978, Judi married Rob, and together they shared 47 years of marriage, family, and devotion to one another. Judi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life centered around her family and community.
She was deeply involved with The Benevolent Protective Order of Elks and The Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does, organizations that meant a great deal to her. Judi faithfully served as Secretary of the Elks for 18 years, a role she carried out with dedication, pride, and commitment. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially looked forward to yearly outings in Walnut Grove, which became treasured traditions filled with laughter and lasting memories.
She is survived by her husband, Rob Golden; her children, Arron "Rick" Burton and his wife Heather, Brent Burton and his wife Christi, Cole Golden and his wife Tiffany, Rory Golden and his wife Deidra; and her bonus son, Sean Ekberg and his wife Nicole. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brittini Burton, Connor Burton, Alex Hernandez and his wife Brianna, Alyssa Scott and her husband Trip, Brooke Burton, Camille Burton, Braylee Golden, Brecklyn Golden, Ransyn Golden, Rylan Golden, and Kyleigh Golden; and by eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her grandson Taylor Burton. Judi is also survived by her siblings: Susan Stringfield, Billie Jean Hall, Mike Black, Roger Black, and David Black; along with many extended family members, friends, and fellow Elks and Does who will cherish her memory.
Judi's legacy lives on through her family, her service to others, and the many lives she touched throughout her life. Her strength, infectious laugh and deep love marked the world for the better, and her memory will shine in the hearts of those she loved for generations to come.
A celebration of life will be held March 14th, 2026 at 4pm at the Artesia Elks Lodge.
