Juanita Moave (Romisch) Brockoff passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 in Artesia New Mexico at the age of 85.
Juanita was born on May 16, 1940 in Portland, Oregon; the daughter of William Frederick Romisch and Esther Louise (Etherton) Romisch. She graduated from Fortuna High School and always considered Humboldt County home. She worked at Saint Luke's Manor and after retirement she moved to New Mexico with her husband Hank.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Henry (Hank) Brockoff. She is survived by her son Kevin Edward Duke; daughters Myra Barnum, Joy Virginia Sturgill, and Dawn Marie Shrewsberry; sisters Lillian Levitt and husband Keith Levitt, and Della Bennett and husband Bob Bennett; also by 6 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Juanita had many passions and talents; she loved to bake, sew, and crochet. However, her favorites were painting and traveling. She was a self-taught painter, specializing in landscapes and animals inspired by her travels. Her journeys took her to Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, the Baltic Sea area, and even Russia.
Even though she is no longer with us, the memories she left behind-in her artwork and the things she created-will forever keep her alive in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Artesia Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care while she was there.
No services are planned at this time. A private family gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
