Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM, Monday, June 7, 2021 at First United Methodist Church for Jo Lynn Hope of Artesia, NM. Visitation will be at Terpening on Sunday, June 6th from 3 PM to 6 PM.
Pastor Rick Sullivan will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sid Parker, Dave Baker, Michael Durham, Kevin Hope, Bill Hope, and Lance Goodrich. Honorary Pallbearers will be Craig Mills, Norbert Wong, Danny Kiper, and Jason Ciempa.
Jo Lynn Hope, 70, entered into Heaven on Monday, May 31, 2021 in Lubbock, TX.
She was born May 26, 1951 in Artesia, NM; the daughter of Aldwyer "Allen" and Nida (Dunnam) Mills. On August 16, 1985 she was married to the love of her life, Sonny Hope, in Artesia.
Jo Lynn was raised in Artesia, NM and graduated from Artesia High. She went to Nursing School at Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell and graduated as an RN. For many years, she worked at Artesia General Hospital before she left to found J&J Home Care with Joyce Munoz. She was active in the community teaching First Aid & CPR through the Red Cross. She was active in Eastern Star and was a Medical Investigator for the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator. She served on the Loco Hills and Atoka Volunteer Fire Departments, was an active member of the Elks Club, and was an author who published her own novel. She and Sonny were adventurous travelers who loved to SCUBA dive and see new places. She was an avid history buff, loved to cook, and loved to needlepoint. She was known far and wide for throwing large gatherings that could feed an army. She adored her family and was amazingly generous with her time and resources. She always spoke her mind and loved with all her heart. She was a beloved force of nature and was compassionate and caring. She was truly one of a kind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janie Mills Lair, and nephew Von Mills.
She is survived by her husband Sonny Hope; sister Judy Wong and husband Norbert of Honolulu, Mitzi Baker and husband Dave of Lakewood, Colorado, Monica Parker and husband Sid of Tulsa, brother Craig Mills and wife Janna of Granbury, TX, and sister Mendi Dunn and husband Jeff of Tulsa; daughter Marie Durham and husband Michael of Artesia, son Kevin Hope and wife Shawna of Artesia, son Bill Hope and wife Brenda of Artesia; nieces Robin Goodrich and husband Lance of Artesia, Jenn Walters and husband Bill Dennes of Seattle, Lesli Bray of Amarillo, and Royce Lewis and husband Ethan of Las Vegas, and nephew Brandon Parker and Erin Vorhies of Denver; grandchildren Ashley Durham of Lubbock, David Durham and wife Mercedes of Moore, OK, Jessica Hope of Artesia, Michael Hope of Artesia, Tharen Goodrich of Lubbock, and Brogen Goodrich of Artesia; and great-grandson Caine Hope of Artesia.
