John Ironmonger

May 30, 1943 — February 16, 2024

John Paul Ironmonger was born on May 30, 1943 in Pampa, Texas to Jack Ironmonger and Florence Stone Ironmonger and went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2024 in Artesia, New Mexico surrounded by his family.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church in Artesia, NM at 10:00 AM. A private burial will be held at Woodbine Cemetery following the service for family and relatives.

John married the love of his life, Janice Bragg Harper, in 1963. They moved to Artesia a few years later. He worked at Central Valley Electric hiring on as a lineman and becoming a superintendent. He retired after 36 years.

In his earlier years, he served in the US Army and he was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion.

He was a talented drummer, and also enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, parents, his sister (Jacqulyn Thompson), sister-in-law (Bobbie Harper) and his son-in-law (William McLurg).

Survivors include his son, Byron Ironmonger and wife Liz; his daughters, Stormi Davis and husband Gary, and Misti McLurg; grandchildren, Brandi Ruezga (Albert), Kanda Serrano (Danny), Dustin McLurg (Katy), Brehnan Davis, Lakin Reeder (Jacob); great grandchildren, Sky, Gus, & Tre Ruezga, Aidan & Corban Serrano, Jackson, Carter, & Miles McLurg, and Harper, Jase, & Haven Reeder; brother-in-law, Braxton Harper; niece, Tammy Trujillo and nephew, Robert Thompson.
