Obituary

Joe T. Salgado passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. His life was grounded in faith, family, community, and his enduring love for the Artesia Bulldog football team.

Joe was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Emma P. Salgado, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and cherished memories. He was a proud father to Dr. Joe Salgado and his wife, Kim; Jamie Salgado; and Vanessa Rogers and her husband, Jared.

Nothing brought Joe greater joy than his family. He treasured time with his grandchildren, Torey, Keaton and his wife Taylor, Jace, Ayden, Cameron, and Ava, and his new great-grandson, Blair. They will remember his constant encouragement, support, and affection.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Blas and Micaela Salgado, and his siblings Salvador Salgado, Adan Salgado, Blas Salgado Jr., Sophia Ramirez, Estella Jones, and Francis Smith. He is survived by his siblings, Arthur Salgado, Sally Brito, and Eva Abbott.

Joe treasured the lifelong bond he shared with his brothers and sisters. His family finds comfort in knowing he has been reunited with those who went before him.

Joe's faith in God guided his decisions, shaped his character, and sustained him through every season of life. His faith was not simply something he professed; it was something he lived.

Joe cared deeply for his community. He readily lent a hand, treated others with kindness and respect, and found joy in building relationships with those around him. Many of those relationships were strengthened over meals at the Green Chile Cafe, where he enjoyed the cuisine, cherished the staff, and frequently gathered with friends and family. His generosity and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Joe will be remembered for his devotion to faith, family, and community; his warm smile; and his gentle wisdom. Although he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love and service will continue through his family and the many lives he touched.

Joe will be forever loved and never forgotten.

The family sincerely appreciates the love, prayers, and support they have received during this difficult time. They also extend heartfelt gratitude to Artesia General Hospital and its medical staff, J&J Home Care, and Enhabit Hospice for their hard work, compassion, and dedicated care of Joe and his family.

Services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. The Rosary will begin at 9:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow. Burial will take place at Woodbine Cemetery. Following the burial, a meal will be provided at the Our Lady of Grace Church Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Artesia General Hospital Foundation Cup of Joe Scholarship Fund.
