A memorial service is scheduled for 10 am Saturday, October 2, at St. Anthony Catholic Church for Joe L. Ornelas of Artesia, New Mexico. A rosary is also scheduled for 9:30 am Saturday.
Mr. Ornelas, 84, died on September 27, 2021 at his home in Artesia.
Joe was born on August 10, 1937 in Valentine, Texas; the son of Senon Tarango and Jesusita Ornelas. He was a longtime resident of Artesia.
He was married to Ida Samora on November 8, 1958
He was preceded in death by his parens, a son Edward Ornelas and a grandson Jordan Ornelas.
Survivors include his wife Ida Ornelas; sons J.J. Ornelas, Kerry Ornelas, Barry Ornelas, and Jerrod Ornelas; brothers Mike Fuentes and Leo Moreno; a sister Virginia Alvarez; nieces Idajo Palma, Jessica & Syra Fuentes; grandchildren Jeremy, Jacob, Brandon, Isaiah, Kinzie, Nicholas, Jessie, Aaron, Jada, Stevie, Derrick, Ida Marie, Jerrod, Stephanie, Jacob, and Janessa; several great-grandchildren; and nieces Idajo Palma, Jessica Fuentes and Syra Fuentes.
