Jesusita Garcia

Jesusita Garcia, 82, passed away December 30, 2023, at her home after a long battle with cancer. 

She was born to WW II Veteran Jose Martinez & wife Modesta Losoya in Mercedes, TX on August 30, 1941. She was a homemaker and married 52 years to her husband Epimenio H. Garcia who preceded in death on August 2, 2020. 

She is preceded in death by her parents Jose Martinez, Modesta Losoya Maldonado, sisters Demetria Sanchez, Irene Garza, and brother Bonifacio Garcia, step-sons Reno Garcia, Mario Garcia. 

She is survived by her daughters Eufemia Garcia of the home of Artesia, NM, Lisa & Samuel Lewis of Artesia, NM, son Jesus & Erica Garcia of Artesia, NM, step-daughters Stella Pena of Odessa, TX, Mary & Javier Chavez of Lyden, WA, brothers Carlos & Sheila Garcia of Kerman, CA, Pete & Dora Garcia of Fresno, CA, sisters Juanita Montejano of Fresno, CA, Berta Zabal of Fresno, CA, Mary De Leon of Fresno, CA. She was blessed with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Her favorite things to do was cook for her family and make tortillas, she was a prayer warrior, loved God and enjoy going to church, and spending time with family. She was always wearing her Christmas apron each time she cooked, and was loved for her fresh beans, rice and tamales by all who ate at her house. 

Services will be held at her home church Trinity Temple on Saturday, January 6, 2024 officiated by Pastor Bobby Argo at 10:00 a.m. follow by her burial at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, NM. A viewing will be on Friday January 5, 2024 between 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Terpening & Son Mortuary. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Samson Lewis, Xavier Garcia, Lucas Garcia, Kyler Smoot, brothers Pete Garcia, Carlos Garcia. 

Jesusita's smiles and glow of sunshine will be missed by her family and all who knew her; and we know she is resting in heaven in peace with our Savior.
