Jackie Shipman

June 20, 1937 — February 23, 2020

Our beloved Nana, Jackie J. Shipman, 82, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully February 23, 2020.

Nana, in her profession as a nurse and daycare provider, never stopped caring for the people she loved. She inspired so many to love deeply, serve others and care for one another. Nana enjoyed gardening, watching sports, cooking, and spending time with the children she loved.

Pastor Jason Kraft will officiate the service at West Main Baptist Church with burial to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dusti Krueger, Chad Bower, Corey Bower, Casey Bower, Bud Shipman, Mike West, and Gary West. Honorary Pallbearers are all the children she has cared for over the past several years.

Jackie was born June 20, 1937 in Dexter N.M., the daughter of Joe Miller and Katherine (Nowak) Miller. She was a longtime Artesia area resident.

On October 1, 1953 she was married to H. Carrol Shipman in Hagerman, N.M. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1989.

She was greeted in heaven by her loving husband Carrol, her son Thomas Wayne and her sister JoAnn Vandenbout and her loving dog Quazzi and many other family members who will be glad to welcome her home. Most importantly she was greeted by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Nana will be greatly missed by her daughter: Carolyn Susie Parsons of Artesia; brother: Joe B. Miller or Artesia; sister: Kathy West of Gallatin, TN: daughter Becky Shipman; granddaughter: Dusti Krueger of Klamath Falls, OR; grandsons: Chad Bower of Stockton, NJ, Corey Bower of Long Island, NY, Casey Bower of Albuquerque, NM, and Bud Shipman of Artesia; great grandchildren: Aven Krueger, Layla Shipman, Adeline Shipman, Jameson Bower, Jack Bower, and Callen Bower.

Nana's impact and loving legacy will be cherished by the generations of not only her existing family but through the lives of the children she kept as well.

Visitation will be open to the public at Terpening & Son Mortuary Thursday, February 27, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, at West Main Baptist Church Artesia, New Mexico.
