Ida was a devoted Catholic member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Cursillista member, volunteered at the Good Shepherd Mission. She attended mass regularly until the last few years of her life. A woman of faith, she devoted herself to the Rosary numerous times of the day.
She was a dedicated housekeeper for numerous families throughout the community as well as working at Yates Petroleum in housekeeping. She was a loyal companion and housekeeper to Leah Kennedy for 15 plus years. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune, and Family Feud. She spent many hours watching hummingbirds from her front kitchen window. Her favorite cold drink was a strawberry milkshake. She was an avid Denver Bronco fan. Her favorite player was Von Miller; whom she called "her Travieso."
She supported and attended grandkids and great grandkids sporting events when possible.
We extend our appreciation to her granddaughters; Stephanie Mariscal, Jessica Bejarano, Melanie Bejarano, and Rena Batie for their vigilance in caring for their grandmother throughout the night of March 13 through the early morning of March 14. A big thank you to Mary Chavarria, her devoted (chosen daughter) neighbor and blessing to our family in helping to care for our beloved mother throughout the years. We are eternally grateful for the support of the professional care provided by J&J Home Care (Laura Lopez Torres and Rena Batie), Enhabit Home Health Care and Hospice, and Carlsbad Medical Center, all of whom helped ensure her final days were filled with dignity, comfort, and peace.
