In Loving Memory of Hunter Bo Martin

Hunter Bo Martin, age 22, of Artesia, New Mexico, passed away on August 11, 2026.

Hunter was born on December 8, 2003, in Roswell, New Mexico, to B.C. Martin and Echo Derick. He grew up in Artesia, New Mexico, where he continued to reside throughout his life.

Hunter completed his education at Artesia High School in 2023. He was currently working alongside his father, B.C. Martin, at B&M Water Well Services. Hunter was baptized in 2021 at West Main Baptist Church and was currently attending services at Faith Baptist Church.

Although Hunter was not formally involved in any specific organization, he was always the person you could count on to show up and lend a helping hand whenever he was needed. He was blessed with a servant's heart and was always willing to help others.

Hunter is survived by his father, B.C. Martin; his bonus mother, Megan Martin; his mother, Echo Derick; his bonus father, Dustin Harlow; his sisters, Alexis Benton and her significant other, Carson Adams and Katelynn Martin; and his girlfriend, Harlee Walker, along with her son, Dalen Walker.

He is also survived by his grandparents, Wayne Derick and his wife, Dana; Toni Robinson and her husband, Scott; Joanna Sellers; and Delford Martin.

Hunter is further survived by his uncles, Shawn Martin and his wife, Amanda; Cody Martin and his wife, Crystal; Cory and his wife Becky; Jeremy Ryan. Ronny Derick and his wife, Angie; Jeremiah Derick and his wife, Seirn; Clay and his wife, Stephanie; Joe and his wife, Charmie; and Patrick and his wife, Valerie. His aunts include Amber Donaghe and her husband, Patrick; Latisha Romine; and Savannaha Somaro and her husband, Myron.

He is also survived by numerous cousins, many other loving extended family members, friends, and longtime friend Ben Hendrix who will forever cherish his memory.

Hunter was preceded in death by Bryce Martin, Garrett Romine, Bo Derick, Eddie Sellers, and Jessica Bain.

Hunter enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He loved music, working on vehicles, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time on or in the water-whether he was skiing, tubing, or boating. He also enjoyed playing video games and gathering with friends and family for poker nights, cornhole or darts.

One of Hunter's current passion projects was restoring his King Ranch Ford, a project that reflected his love for working on vehicles. Hunter was happiest when he was working on his truck, playing with Dalen, or cruising down a country road with the music turned up.

Hunter also had a natural ability for soccer and enjoyed playing from the age of six until he was twelve. He loved a wide variety of music, with a playlist that could range anywhere from Jelly Roll to what he jokingly called "white girl music." There was always a song playing wherever Hunter was.

Hunter loved gathering with family, especially when Aunt Crystal was making her chicken spaghetti. He loved spending time with his friends and cousins and making memories with the people he loved. Hunter found happiness in the simple things that made life his own.

Those who knew Hunter will forever remember his beautiful smile, unforgettable personality, big heart, and contagious laughter. His presence brought joy to those around him, and he had a way of making even ordinary moments feel special. He loved deeply and cherished his family and friends.

Most who knew Hunter would say that he was admired most for his extremely kind heart. Hunter had a huge heart and a personality that was truly indescribable. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but the memories he created and the love he gave will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at West Main Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Jason Kraft.

Pallbearers will be Cutler Crockett, Billy Drake, Stephen Drake, Caleb Martin, Cameron Martin, Dustin Harlow, Ben Hendricks, Jeremiah Derick, Adam Beasley, and Jr. Smedley.

Hunter's life, love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
