Helen Shields

Memorial services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Terpening Son Chapel, for Helen Louise McLemore-Shields, 707 W. Centre Ave., Artesia, N.M. Mrs. Shields, 73, died Thursday Feb. 15, 2001, at Artesia General Hospital. No visitation is scheduled. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mrs. Shields was born June 26, 1927 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana; the daughter of Watts McLemore and Mazie Coye McLemore. She moved to Artesia in 1963 from Forney, Texas. She was a home health care provider for 15 years before retiring in 1996. She is survived by a son Kent Caffal and wife Debbie of Artesia; a daughter Susan Donaldson and husband Kenneth of Plantersville, Alabama; a brother J.G. McLemore of Harlingen, Texas; a sister Evelyn Reed of Shreveport, Louisiana; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
