Gwendolyn Woods

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Terpening & Son Mortuary for Gwendolyn Joyce Woods of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Woods, 79, died October 30, 2018 at San Pedro Nursing Facility in Artesia, NM.

Ronnie Williams will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her nephews & nieces.

Gwendolyn was born April 1, 1939 in Montague County, Texas to James LeRoy Gifford and Gracie (McCarter) Gifford. Gwen lived most of her life in Bowie and Nocona, Texas but traveled with her parents and sister all over Texas and Wyoming as a child and young adult following the oil industry. Gwen attended school in numerous communities and graduated from Artesia High School in 1957. Gwen worked as a bookkeeper for Nocona Boots and finished her working career at Nocona Athletics, in Nocona, Texas. Gwen moved to Artesia in 2007 with her husband Bill Woods. Bill preceded Gwen in death on September 29, 2008.

Gwen's family was her pride and joy. Her nieces and nephew where the children she never had and she would want all of them to know that she loved them with all of her heart.

Gwen his survived by her sister Lois Oliver of Artesia; her nieces Theresa Baize and husband Tim, Cynthia Wallace and husband Blaine, and Caleen Williams and her husband Curtis; great nieces and nephews Brian Baize and wife Lyndsay of Liberty Hill, Texas, Josh Wallace and wife Denise, Whitney Baize, Jacqueline Wallace; great great nephew and nieces, Zane Baize, Arceley "Mimi" Aguilar, Taylor and Jaxon Armstrong of Liberty Hill, Texas, Dailyn Wallace, of Artesia, NM, and Sophia & Kinslee Thompson of Wichita Falls, Texas, and lots of aunts and cousins.
