Lupe "Lita" Salmon, 81 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Lupe was born to Juan and Porfiria Perez on July 1, 1944, in Artesia, New Mexico.
Lupe was a longtime resident of Lake Arthur, New Mexico, where she became known for her kind heart, strong faith and dedication to her community. Throughout her life, she served others in many ways, including working as a judge, helping at the Joy Center, serving as a Spanish Teacher's aide, and being actively involved in her beloved church, Our Lady of Guadalupe as a Cursillista. One of her proudest accomplishments aside from being a mom, and grandma, she was a Nursing Assistant. Caring for others came naturally to Lupe and she touched countless lives through her compassion and generosity.
Lupe found joy in the simple blessings in life. She loved spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, gardening, sewing, doing puzzles and playing solitaire. She especially treasured attending her grandchildren's school activities and celebrating their accomplishments. Her love extended not only to her family, but also to her cherished puppies-Lola, Nana, Molly and Panzon, who brought her endless happiness.
She is survived by her loving children: daughters, Irma Salmon, Trina Salmon and son Juan "Cody" Salmon (Beatrice). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Aarmon "Punkin" Guillen and wife Tasha, Adrian Guillen (Abby), Jennifer Olivas and wife Brianna, Zachary Woods, Katrina McCandless and husband Austin, and Alejandro "Stanley" Salmon. Lupe was also blessed with great grandchildren, Gavin Banda, Aaliyah Guillen, Isidro "Chilo" Hernandez and wife Raven, and Martin "Pelen" Hernandez, as well as a great-great granddaughter Nahila Hernandez.
She is also survived by her sisters Dora Martinez and Olga Cortez and her brothers Martin Perez and Felix Perez
Lupe was preceded in death by her parents-Juan and Porfiria Perez, her brothers Pablo Perez, Johnny Perez, Armando Perez, Ismael Perez, Sammy Perez and Domingo Perez and her sisters Toni Galindo and Emma Cervantez.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to J&J Home Care, Enhabit of Roswell and Carlsbad, Artesia Healthcare & Rehab Center, her caregivers and the family and friends who gave their time, love and support during her care.
Lupe will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
