Grace Thompson

Services are scheduled at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 2 at First United Methodist Church for Grace Agnes Thompson, 901 Catalina Dr., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Thompson, 89, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002 in Artesia. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Floyd Economides, J. B. Craft, David Matlock, Bill Gray, Jimmy Boyse and Owen Taylor. Grace was born August 3, 1912 in Mullin, Texas; the daughter of John King and Maggie Tucker King. She graduated from the Talpa, Texas High School in 1931 and from Lubbock Sanatorium School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas in 1934. On November 16, 1942 she was married to Ernest C. Thompson in Brownwood, Texas. She came to Loco Hills, N.M. in 1942 and to Artesia in 1945. She was a retired Registered Nurse; working as office nurse for Dr. Robert W. Harper for many years and also doing private duty nursing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; member and Past President of the Altrusa Club; and was a member of Artesia General Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents; and by two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include her husband Ernest C. Thompson of Artesia; a son Robert Thompson and wife Pam of Encinito, Calif.; a brother John King, Jr. of Brenham, Texas; a sister Louise Erickson and husband Bill of Sandia, Texas; grandchildren Robert Thompson, Jr. and Michelle Campbell and husband Josh and a great-grandson Conner Campbell all of Encinito.
