A graveside service will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 10:00 am at Woodbine Cemetery, Artesia, NM

Fred, 86, passed away on June 11, 2026 at his home in Pottsboro TX. He was born January 12, 1940 to Willie Lee and Jo Scott in New London TX.

Fred was married to the love of his life Mary Newman Scott on June 29, 1964 in Artesia NM. He was just shy of celebrating his 62nd wedding anniversary with his bride.

Fred was a kind and loving husband and father. He absolutely loved his two daughters and he was a proud PaPa and even prouder Great PaPa.

Fred loved having projects around the house and fixing everything himself. He was an excellent fixer upper and there was no project that he couldn't handle . He loved working on electronics in his younger years, music, old movies, YouTube music videos, and his yard. He prided himself on having the best yard in the neighborhood.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Lee Scott of Tyler, TX and his mother Lillie Jones Scott of Tyler TX.

Fred is survived by his wife Mary Newman Scott of Pottsboro Tx, daughter Linda Scott Mitchell, son-in-law Shane Mitchell of Pottsboro Tx, daughter Deborah Scott Wells of Midland Tx Grandchildren, Madison Crowe and husband Cody Crowe of Garland Tx, Zachary Wells of Lubbock TX, Nicholas Wells of Midland TX, Autum Mitchell of Pottsboro Tx, Jackson Wells of Midland Tx. Great granddaughter Ellabelle Crowe of Garland TX. And cousins in East TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
