LaVerne was a simple woman who would do anything necessary for family. She knew nothing about ranch life, but married a cowboy in 1954. She learned everything necessary to be a cowboy's wife, she raised six children, 2 nephews, one neighbor girl who stayed 3 plus years, and many other children who stopped by or were drug home by her kids. She was a devout Christian woman and made sure her beliefs were instilled in her family.
LaVerne loved fishing and camping throughout her life. She loved crocheting, reading, and any and all card and board games. She loved doing puzzles and was competitive at anything she did. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always smiling and laughing.
LaVerne worked as the cafeteria manager at Penasco school and drove one of the school buses for 25 plus years. Some of her greatest memories involved the kids she was around at Penasco school with her best friend Pauline Lewis. LaVerne was loved by everyone who knew her and touched many lives with her generosity and kindness.
