Fermin Burgess

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Friday, October 20 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Fermin L. Burgess of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Burgess, 53, died on October 14, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas.

Fr. Vijay will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Teddy Molina, David Molina, Jamie Molina, Steven Molina, Daniel "Magoo" Molina, and Inez Aguirre. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Church beginning at 2 pm Thursday with a rosary to follow at 6:30 pm.

Fermin was born on January 19, 1970 in Artesia; the son of Manuel Burgess and Flavia Lara. He was a longtime resident of Artesia. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and was well known around his neighborhood.

He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Burgess and Flavia Lara Martinez, grandparents Antonio and Lillia Lara.

Survivors include his daughters Mercedes Goodwin and Mariah Hernandez; a brother Hector Martinez, Jr., and Daniel Molina who he considered as a brother; sisters Victoria Aguirre and Nancy Johnson; grandchildren Cayde and Malani; and by his caregiver and aunt Diana Lara.
